My Money Pouch Plant

Dischida Plant

The pouches on this plant drew my curiosity when I first saw it at a nursery. They are actually the plants' leaves curled up to form nest-like structures where ants would reside (in its natural wild environment). The pinkie berries make them such decorative plants. I didn't get them on my first visit as I was a little "intimidated" by the pouches.

On my second visit to the nursery, (after many weeks of missing them and doing online research about them) they are all GONE!!! And according to the staff I spoke to, they are not always available. Sadly, I continued my hunt for them, trying my luck at other nurseries.

One fine day, I saw them again at a shopping arcade and knew I had to get it. The seller told me that it is known as a "Money Pouch Plant" because of the resemblance. From my previous research, I gathered it is also called "Ant Plant" as the ants lived in the pouches. The scientific name is Dischida Plant.

There it is, residing happily at the corridor outside my flat (see pictures below.) Looking after it is so effortless. (I only have to water once a week, and mist on a daily basis.) But the pleasure it gives me is immense.

In my least expected moment, they are blooming again.

Feet Warmers

I get cold feet easily. (I mean, in the physical sense.) These socks keep them warm in a delightful way.
